Thomas Stanfield was born on June 27, 1732 in Virginia. He was the son of Robert Stanfield. They do not seem to be related to the Sullivan County, Tennessee Stanfields.
Thomas Stanfield and his brother John Stanfield lived in Cumberland County, North Carolina in the 1760's to 1770's. They came from Granville County.
In 1763 Thomas was constable in Cumberland County. John Stanfield was on the 1767 tax list of Cumberland County, North Carolina.
