An American Family History

Ruth Beard

All Hallows or South River Parish, Anne Arundel County, Maryland was created in 1672.

Ruth Beard was born about 1650 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Her parents were Richard Beard and Rachel Robbins.

Researchers differ about who her husband was. According to Ancestral Records and Portraits, Vol. I, page 247 Ruth married John Gaither, but other researchers believe that Gaither's wife, Ruth was the daughter of Joseph Morley.

When her father died about 1681, Ruth and her sons inherited part of Timberneck and her brother, Richard's, share if he died without children.

In the early 1700s, her nephew, Richard Clark, terrorized Annapolis.

Children of Richard Beard and Rachel Robins:
  • Ruth Beard
  • Rachel Beard Stimpson Proctor Kilburn Freeborn
  • Richard Beard, Jr.
  • John Beard
  • Rebecca Beard Nicholson
